Access to the natural world and the ability to play freely and regularly within it is the natural birthright of all children (and adults!). While we look to ensure that our program is accessible to all and reflects the Oakland community in which we are based, we are also prioritizing the operational cost of our school.
Roots y Ramas has partnered with
Growing Together Project Bay Area, a non profit dedicated to improving the health and sustainability of school communities by greening schoolyards, providing youth environmental education, planting trees, & increasing fresh food access at over 30 public schools across Oakland, West Contra Costa, & San Lorenzo Unified School Districts.
Roots y Ramas has an Equity Tuition Fund to make our program available to families who may not be able to afford our tuition.
Please review our sliding scale guidelines and if you fall within our guidelines, we welcome you to fill out our
Tuition Equity Application. Tuition support is allocated at the start of each year. Priority goes to Black, Indigenous, People of Color, and children with special needs.
In order to qualify for tuition assistance, families should fall into the category of ‘low income’ on the
Oakland Housing Authority’s Income Categories.
We also use funds to contribute to the Shummi Land Tax and support the work of the Sogorea Te’ Land Trust and to teacher development in Nature-connection and anti-racism education.
Mother Earth is everyone’s home.
